Policy regarding the Dedication of Children

In accordance with the requirements of Jesus Christ as outlined in Mark 10: 14 to “Suffer the Little Children to come to Me” the Pastor and members of Lifeline Christian Fellowship (LCF) respect the Biblical requirement to dedicate Children to the Lord.

This however, is not to be confused with the Baptism of Converted Believers, neither is it regarded as the Baptism of Infants in order to enroll them as members of the Church. We uphold the Biblical practice but regard baby/infant dedication as presenting the child to the Lord - NOT a form of Baptism.

The following is to be accepted by ALL persons as the Church’s policy for the dedication of children at LIFELINE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP.

1. Children of Married couples who are members of LCF will be dedicated by the Pastor or his authorized representative during the morning service on the 4th Sunday of every month. Information regarding the child’s/ children’s particulars should reach the pastor’s office no less than one (1) week before the date of dedication. Where only one (1) of the parents is a member of LCF and married, the child/children will be dedicated during the morning service.

2. Children of married persons who are born-again believers but not members of LCF will be dedicated at the church office following the service on a Sunday agreed upon by the Pastor and the parents of the child/ children. The pastor reserves the right to dedicate the child/children of these parents during a morning service. In this regard the child will be dedicated on the 4th Sunday morning. Information regarding the child’s/children’s particulars should reach the pastor’s office no less than one (1) week before the dedication date.

3. Children of married parents who are either not born-again or are backslidden will be dedicated at the pastor’s office following the morning service on a Sunday agreed upon by the pastor and parents of the child/ children. The parents will be required to attend church services at LCF for two (2) consecutive Sundays prior to the dedication date. The child will be dedicated on that second Sunday of their attendance. In the event where the parents become converted before the dedication of the child/ children, the child/children will be dedicated during the morning service on the 4th Sunday of the month. Information regarding the child’s/children’s particulars should reach the pastor’s office no less than one (1) week before the dedication date.

4. Children born out of wedlock will be dedicated after the morning service on a Sunday agreed upon by the pastor and the parents of the child/children. Dedication will take place at the pastor’s office. In the event where the parents are not believers or backslidden Christians, the parents will be required to attend church services at LCF for two (2) consecutive Sundays prior to the child’s dedication. The child will be dedicated on that second Sunday of their attendance. Information regarding the child’s/children’s particulars should reach the pastor’s office no less than one (1) week before the dedication date.

These are the particulars for a child to be dedicated to be presented to the pastor’s office prior to dedication: viz.

1. Full Name of Child
2. Date of Birth (D.O.B)
3. Place of Birth. E.g. Princess Margaret Hospital, Roseau
4. Father’s Full Name
5. Mother’s Full Name
6. Mothers’ Maiden Name (If married, surname prior to marriage)
7. Name of Witness(es)

Failure to abide by the above policy will forfeit one’s privilege to have one’s child dedicated at LCF.

There is no prescribed fee paid to the pastor for the dedication of children. However, if the parent/s so desire, an offering given to the church will be accepted.
