Rev. Bernard Joseph Biography

Senior Pastor – Lifeline Christian Fellowship

Rev. Bernard Joseph Bernard Joseph was born in an obscure little village, Grand Fond, in the northern part of the island of Dominica. At age 3, he migrated with his parents and siblings to Vieille Case where he attended Pre-School, the Vieille Case Primary school and later, the Portsmouth Secondary School (P.S.S.).Growing up in a very large family with thirteen (13) siblings (seven (7) brothers and six (6) sisters), BJ as he was fondly referred to, got involved in several activities especially sports and music. Though a bit timid, yet talkative, BJ was always involved in playing a leading role at home, school and in the community. His seeming giftedness with ‘speech’ and his leadership ability would later become assets to his calling in life. His passionate love for music and especially singing, led him to join a musical band Survivors, in the village as the lead singer. After graduating from High School he went straight into teaching at the Vieille Case Primary school after working for a few months with the Public Works Department as a Time Keeper. At school he was professionally known as Mr. Joseph, but as “Teacher BJ” by parents and students.

His life took a drastic turn for the better when he came into direct contact with the Lord Jesus Christ and was converted through the born-again experience on Friday, 27th May 1983 during an outdoor Gospel Crusade hosted by the Vieille Case Faith Center. This remarkable event will be forever etched in the annals of Glory. Pastor Joseph’s conversion is one that captured the attention of his peers, his co-workers, fellow bandsmen, students and his family. They never believed that he was serious and expected him to revert on his decision to follow the Lord Jesus. From the onset, he developed a love for prayer, worship and the ministry of the Word of God. It was evident to him, his pastor and congregation that God’s call to the ministry was on his life. He spent much of his time in teaching, preaching and praying. He also continued to develop his musical skills and was a passionate worship leader.

In 1985, he attended a youth camp where he met his sweetheart, Gloria, who would later become his wife. Three years after his conversion, he said goodbye to those he loved, including his fiancée in response to a call to prepare for pastoral ministry. He migrated to the United States in December 1986 to attend the Christ for The Nations in Dallas, Texas, where he served on the Student’s Council as International Students Representative and graduated in December 1988. Prior to his graduation he was ordained with Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International (FGFCMI) on the recommendation of Mrs. Freda Lindsay, co-founder of the school.

Pastor Joseph and Gloria got married on 1st July 1989 and together gave birth to four lovely children – Benni (15), Garvin (12), Angel (10) and Josh (6). His seventeen (17) years in the Pastoral Ministry have impacted the lives of thousands in Dominica and every country where he has ministered. For the last fourteen years, he and his wife have given pastoral leadership to the Lifeline Christian Fellowship in Portsmouth, Dominica.

Pastor Joseph also serves on national forums, such as the Council for Early Childhood Education and the National Council for the Elimination of all forms of Domestic Violence Against Women (CEDAW). He also served on the Executive Board of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI) – Dominica District for thirteen years. During that time he served as Youth Director, District Secretary, District Treasurer and Assistant District Superintendent He has given leadership and served on the Parents Teachers Associations at both primary and secondary school levels and is widely sought after as a Motivational Speaker, Civic Leader, Family & Marriage Advisor and School Counselor. Pastor Joseph has been host of the National Television Program, “The Living Word” and the popular National radio interactive talk show, “Keeping it Real” on DBS Radio. His dynamic, anointed ministry has allowed him the opportunity to minister throughout most of the islands of the Caribbean as well as parts of North America.
